Senior Developer & Project Manager
Neon Goldfish Marketing2015-2017

I was hired as a senior web developer and primarily worked on custom development projects for our clients. Most of this work took previously coded PHP sites and added additional API and Custom Payment gateways.

For the first six months, most of my time was spent introducing new technologies, new workflows, and approaches to increase the quality and redundancy of all our projects. One of the more significant improvements includes an entire GIT workflow and training, setting up automatic deployments from GIT to our servers, Style Guides, CSS frameworks, end-to-end unit testing. I also introduced and trained the existing developers to Expression Engine for sites we are creating.

I played a crucial role in transitioning from Basecamp to Project Teamwork. I spearheaded company initiatives and moved many sites from several different hosts and hosting providers to consolidated VPS hosting with standardized environments. The server consolidation alone reduced hosts and hosting costs by more than tenfold and a documented performance increase for every site involved.

Near the final months of 2015, Neon Goldfish announced to their employees that they decided they would concentrate more on marketing and inbound sales using the HubSpot platform and move away from the complex setup and demanding clients of custom applications. As a result, my responsibilities transitioned into a more Project Management position and focused less on actual development.

The best part of my position is utilizing my experience to teach other team members new skills and create delighted customers.

Recently NeonGoldfish has been leading the charge in ADA compliance and testing. ADA enforcement was becoming a new development on the web, and recent legislation has passed laws that require sites to meet ADA requirements or face penalties. We are one of the few Inbound Marketing Agencies currently also providing ADA compliance services.

Full Stack Developer / Media Specialist
Compassion Christian Church2010-2015

At Compassion Christian Church, I acted as the sole and only “Full Stack Web Developer.” I covered everything from multiple LAMP stacks to plugin development to front-end interaction. During my employment, Compassion Christian Church had about 12 websites that I maintained; 5 were ExpressionEngine, 3 were WordPress, and the others were hardcoded. I have written or extended a few WordPress plugins and a handful of Expression Engine accessories (a straightforward EE plugin)

While on staff at CCC, our team was recognized for our work on the “One Campaign” design for the non-profit category in “How Magazine“. This includes the entire design product; print, web, and display.

There was also a push recently at the church for a few mobile applications, so I have done a lot beyond simple RWD and created web applications designed for mobile devices. The most recent is a digital bulletin application built on jQuery Mobile that pulls information directly from the Expression Engine install over JSONP.

I covered much more responsibility than web development at the church. As part of the creative communications team, we all create many other things, including videos and other promotional materials. I spent a few days a month helping shoot videos for production pieces, both with camera operation and stage/shooting setup. I also spent time doing market research and testing for our materials.

  1. I also did photography/videography for the campuses as needed, covering events, services, or the web. Here are some of the videos that I have played a significant role in the production of;https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lx70N19liag – Grip/Acting/Camerawork
